Christine Brodbeck, born in Switzerland, educated in London is a contemporary dancer, living and teaching in Istanbul.

Mayrbek Umalatow, a refugee from Chechnya, tries to build up a new life in Poland. Arnela Hadzisulejmanovic came from Bosnia to Sweden where she became a European champion of
Jiu-jitsu and studies physiotherapy. Lale Akgün, born in Turkey is a German MP... What do they have in common?

All of them are Muslims, and they live in Europe. All of them are confronted with different cultures and have to deal with the tension resulting from 9/11 and from rising Islam.

This series of 11x28’ documentary programmes produced by 11 different countries highlights the life of European Muslims today, orthodox and moderate believers, as well as secularised Muslims. Each program is divided in two parts and follows two persons, a man and a woman, of different ages, social backgrounds, ethnicity, grades of religiosity and different relations to the surrounding society… They tell their own story themselves and witness the national debate or issue linked to Islam in their country of residence.

Based on a proposal from UR (Sweden), “Muslims in Europe” addresses one of the most controversial issues in Europe today in a spirit of openness and tolerance.
