Brussels, the centre of Europe
27 commissioners, 50 spoken languages, 736 members of parliament, 40.000 lobbyists and diplomats…
And one murderous accident… doing multiple victims. Who was the intended victim?

A truck driver smashes into a crowd at the historic Waterloo monument just a few miles outside Brussels, killing students, politicians, members of the press and security people. Belgian police officer John van Martens heads the department for EU-related crime. Unlike his superiors, John does not believe that the truck driver was drunk, as everyone says. And his detective partner Luc Alexander soon finds that the Waterloo killings were just the prelude to something much bigger: the power in Europe is shifting…

Babylon is proposed to be the first long running Pan- European TV-series about what is going on "front stage" and "backstage" in the EU and Brussels.

Aware of the fact that European politics and institutions are primarily seen as turn-offs, the authors will propose a radically new and different approach: Euro-Noir.

Babylon will indeed reveal political alliances, corruption, murder and fraud inside and around the EU.

Like in X-files, Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code and 24hrs, there is a conspiracy down the road - a dense concentration of power pulling the strings.
Our leading investigators are not only fighting common greed, lobbyism and plain mafia. As they move up in the circles of power, they unravel a darker force lurking behind the decisions made - a force aiming at bringing the union to its knees and, again, profiting from a torn, divided Europe.
Shall you join the fight for a united freedom or do nothing?

Babylon is suggested by the multi-awarded production company Zentropa (founded by director Lars von Trier and producer Peter Aalbaek Jensen) and developed in partnership with
Eurovision TV.
