Interpol created this specialist squad to prevent and fight environmental crime: THE ECO COPS – young, educated, resourceful.

Located in a modern European setting, the new unit boasts broad powers that can overrule national laws Europe-wide when ‘green crimes’ are committed and when big money puts little value on human life.

This new TV series, currently in development, combines strong character-driven drama with real and controversial contemporary issues that are relevant, immediate and potentially life threatening to the viewers.

The subject matter of this series is eco crime and while its primary purpose is to entertain, each episode will be based on actual events that have a strong resonance for viewers worldwide. It will create a high awareness of the impending dangers and the domino effect of local and international eco crime that can actually affect viewers directly presently and in the foreseeable future.

The series will be produced by Magma Films, a German and Irish independent production company which occupies a strong niche position in the marketplace for the creation of high concept programmes.

The project is in development with the support of the EBU Television Development Fund, ARD/SWR and the DG Research of the European Commission.
