Our audiences have little familiarity with other film cultures from Europe. This is what nTrade* attempts to change by helping European films find their way to EBU members and their audiences through programme packages specially built around an attractive theme.
The first successful example was set up in March 2002 when EBU launched the nTrade Immigrants package. YLE and ZDF, followed by NPS and S4C have shown several European films on immigration made by up-and-coming European directors and included in that package.

In 2003 nTrade package - New Europe - there was a selection of films from Eastern Europe, especially countries likely to become EU members. nTrade  broadcasters agreed to include in the package 15 films out of some 60 recent films gathered. Most of them already had a successful theatrical release in their country of origin, and have as well received prizes in various festivals.
The 2004 package gathered films around the Tolerance theme. And the following themes were: in 2005 "Growing up in Europe", in 2006 "Insecurity", and in 2007 "Funny Europe".
The theme for 2008 is “Love Across Borders”.
