The planets in our small solar system are no longer the only ones on our map of the universe. Since 1995 hundreds of others have been found: the exoplanets.

Where are they? Who spots them day after day, and how? What is the motivation behind this frantic search? Is life possible on other planets?

This documentary will interview various researchers (exobiologists, astrophysicists, etc.) who will show us the innovative techniques used to discover these new planets and will provide scientific (and sometimes philosophical) answers to the various questions we ask.

The 52-minute film will give us some insight into the exciting research by a group of scientists that are somewhat different from the average: exoplanet hunters who will share with us their dreams and their discoveries in their quest to find planets comparable to Planet Earth.

Over the past few years this amazing quest has met with great enthusiasm, including among the general public. Who will be the first person to find a planet resembling our Earth, where there might be life forms similar to our own?

The film is produced by Beta Prod, a company that has produced more than 400 hours of history, science and nature documentaries since 1993, in Europe, the Americas and Africa. The film will be directred by Alain Tixier, who directed in particular the documentary series Ushuaia Nature for TF1.
