European man is a series about being a male in today’s society where gender roles are changing rapidly.

The series consists of 4 programmes and focuses on “the European man” and his role in the family, in the workplace and in the community at large.

Each episode introduces 4 personal stories from men in Finland, Denmark, Greece and Poland, dealing with romantic love, work, being alone and fatherhood.

In this series, amongst others, we meet:

• Panagiotis who lives in a part of Greece where women of marrying age are not easily found since they have all gone to the cities to find better lives. He would like to be married but does not try that hard because he thinks that in life 20% is effort and 80% luck. In fact, he would rather go hunting for rabbits than for women;

• Janusz, from Poland is a father of 9 children, 5 of his own and 4 adopted. He and his wife always wanted to do this, in a country where one child per family is becoming a new standard;

• Juha from Finland turned to couple therapy because he was bickering too much with his wife of 20 years. The couple now feel they love and communicate in a more caring and grownup way, and the sex is so much better too!

• Ejner from Denmark was laid off from his shipyard job and is now a nursery teacher in a 24 hour crèche. He loves his job but he hesitated to tell his buddies about it at first.
