Voyage into the Brain  approaches the huge scientific field of Brain Research through the probably most interesting and entertaining "research objects": the savants.

Currently there are around one hundred recognized savants with genius-like talents worldwide. For all brain researchers the Savants are a fascinating window into the brain. Savant-expert Darold Treffert puts it this way: "As long as we don't understand the Savants, we don't understand ourselves".

The best known Savant is probably Kim Peek. Kim inspired the smash movie "Rain Man", where Kim was impersonated by Dustin Offman. Kim has an incredible talent for calculating, he can tell you on the spot the day of the week out of any year of the eternal calendar and memorizes - so far - around 12.000 books by heart. But like most savants, Kim pays a price in his daily life for his incredible memory. He would not be able to even cook a scrambled egg, dress himself in the morning, let alone drive a car. Kim is a lovely person, bue he cannot deal with all sorts of daily matters, that normal people do not even have to think about.

Voyage into the Brain will heavily feature the Savants and the research that is done with them: a human and scientific voyage to find out more abot the human brain and about the "Savants in all of us".
